Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, received Tuesday February 25, 2025, Mr. Ousmane Dione, World Bank Vice-President for the MENA region, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
During the meeting, Mrs. FETTAH and Mr. Dione reviewed the various areas of cooperation between Morocco and the World Bank Group, praising the quality of the exemplary partnership between the two parties and the promising prospects for cooperation, particularly in the wake of the major reform projects undertaken by the Kingdom.
On this occasion, the Minister of Economy and Finance stressed that the structural reforms launched by the Kingdom in recent years, under the enlightened leadership of his majesty king Mohammed VI, may God assist him, have enabled significant progress to be made, notably in terms of strengthening macroeconomic balances, consolidating the foundations of the social State and modernizing the sector of public establishments and companies.
Madame FETTAH also emphasized the priority given by the Moroccan government, in line with the royal high directions, to the water sector, in a context of chronic water stress, and to employment, as an essential vector for the economic inclusion of women and young people in particular.
For his part, the World Bank Vice-President for the MENA region praised the excellent relations between the World Bank Group and Morocco, reflected in a solid and diversified portfolio of projects, while hailing the efforts made by the Kingdom, particularly in the fields of social protection, public sector reform and climate transition.
Mr. Dione also expressed the World Bank Group's firm commitment to supporting Morocco in its preparations to host the 2030 Football World Cup, with a view to optimizing the economic benefits of this global event in the fields of youth and women employment, entrepreneurship, tourism and transport.
