Mrs. Nadia FETTAH took part, December 9 and 10, 2024, in the opening ceremony of the Africa Financial Summit 2024, held in Casablanca under the theme “The time for African financial powers has come”.
In her
opening address (in french) to an audience of African and foreign decision-makers, including Finance Ministers, Central Bank Governors, senior officials from African financial sector regulatory bodies and private sector players, the Minister called for the transformation of African financial institutions to better serve the aspirations of the population.
The Minister stressed the need to adopt an approach that combines flexibility and solidity: “flexibility, to allow the economic, financial and human flows that energize economies to circulate, and solidity, to build robust, resilient foundations in the face of economic and geopolitical challenges”.
For the Minister, “Fluidity” is an essential prerequisite for Africa's economic and financial transformation, by improving the flow of capital, directing it towards strategic uses and making it more accessible.
“Solidity is the foundation on which any resilient economy rests, thanks to rigorous regulation, mastery of macroeconomic balances and exemplary governance,” stressed the Minister.
The Minister also emphasized the importance of unlocking Africa's energies to unleash Africa's potential by mobilizing innovative financing to meet the crucial challenges of ecological transition and social inclusion.
“Unlocking Africa's energies is a collective effort,” she noted. “Governments, financial institutions and the private sector must work together to maximize the impact of available resources. It's not just about raising funds, but building an ecosystem that catalyzes innovation, strengthens human capacity and ensures sustainable growth.”
