Participation of Mrs. Nadia FETTAH in the 2024 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance and Governor of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group for the Kingdom of Morocco, took part, Tuesday, May 27-31, 2024, in the (AfDB) Group's 2024 Annual Meetings in Nairobi, Kenya. On Tuesday May 28, 2024, Mrs. FETTAH participated in the "Governors' Dialogue" session, which this year focused on the theme of "Mobilizing the private sector to accelerate transformation in Africa".

​ Speaking at the event, the Minister emphasized the vital role of the private sector in Africa in creating jobs and boosting growth, while welcoming the initiatives launched by the (AfDB) Group to remove the obstacles to the development of African private investment.

Mrs. FETTAH also highlighted the growing interest in blended finance as a means of mitigating the risks of private investment, and the role expected of development partners in helping African countries to structure and implement bankable PPP projects that are attractive to private players.

On the sidelines of her participation in the Annual Meetings of the (AfDB) Group, the Minister of Economy and Finance held talks with Mr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of this institution. On this occasion, the Minister expressed her satisfaction with the exemplary partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the (AfDB) Group, and praised the Bank's constant support for the reforms and development projects undertaken by the Kingdom under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him.

For his part, Mr. Adesina thanked the Kingdom of Morocco for its ongoing support for the various strategies and initiatives launched by the AfDB Group as part of its mission to promote the economic development and social progress of regional member countries. In this context, the AfDB President shared the Minister's vision of the need to pursue efforts aimed at mobilizing private financing for transformative projects in Africa, recalling in this respect the success of the 4th edition of the (AIF), hosted by Morocco in November 2023.

Mrs. FETTAH also met with Mrs. Alexia Latortue, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Trade and Development. During this meeting, the two parties discussed aspects relating to economic cooperation relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America, and ways of further strengthening them, in the wake of the major reforms and structuring projects undertaken by Morocco.
