The arrangements made to host the annual meetings of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), scheduled in Marrakech next October, are taking place at a "very important pace", confirmed, Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Mrs Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance.
In her answer to an oral question on "Preparations for the success of the IMF and the World Bank Annual Meetings soon to be hosted by the Kingdom", during the weekly oral question session in the House of Councillors, Mrs. FETTAH stressed that a 25-hectare area will be prepared to host this large-scale event. In addition, airports, hotels and means of transport at national and local level are fully mobilized.
Thus, she stated that some 12,000 hotel rooms had been reserved in Marrakech by the end of last week, adding that the total number of participants in these meetings is expected to reach 14,000, including 4,500 members of official delegations representing 189 countries.
In addition, the Minister noted that Morocco's hosting of this event would provide an important opportunity to shed light on the major achievements, reforms and progress made by the Kingdom under the wise leadership of his majesty king Mohammed VI. She highlighted the investment opportunities Morocco abounds in, and the positive results of the cooperation established between Morocco, the IMF, the World Bank and other partners. These annual meetings bring together high-level international players from the world of business and finance, with the aim of exploring solutions to the challenges of the future.
