As part of preparations for the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF scheduled to take place in Marrakech in October 2023, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, organized a meeting with diplomatic representations in Morocco on the morning of July 18th 2023 in Rabat.
The meeting, chaired by Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, was aimed at informing diplomatic representations about the logistical arrangements implemented by Morocco to welcome participants to this international event in optimum conditions. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador, Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates.
In her speech, the Minister of Economy and Finance stressed Morocco's pride in hosting this event, recalling the country's position as a crossroads between Africa, Europe and the rest of the world, and as a land of dialogue and host to major international meetings.
In this context, she emphasized the importance of mobilizing all stakeholders to ensure the success of this event, which marks the return of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings to Africa after 50 years.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of the debates that will take place during these Assemblies in an international context where it is more necessary than ever to strengthen cooperation and dialogue, and underlined Morocco's contribution to these exchanges on numerous economic, environmental and social issues.
This event is part of a series of meetings planned to inform and engage the various stakeholders around these Assemblies.
It should be noted that the Annual Meetings are expected to attract some 14,000 high-level participants, including Ministers of Economy and Finance and Governors of Central Banks from the 189 member countries of the two international institutions, as well as representatives of civil society, the private sector, the international media and academia.
