The Minister of Economy and Finance chairs the first session of the Moroccan-Emirati Joint Economic Commission

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, chaired Thursday, April 27th 2023 in Rabat, together with Mr. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, the ministerial meeting of the Moroccan-Emirati Joint Economic Commission, in its first session. Senior officials of the two ministries and some public institutions and private sector of the two countries participated in this event.

This meeting was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the two ministers which resulted in the signing of a memorandum of understanding on economic and technical cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, which aims to establish a framework of cooperation between the two parties that contributes to develop, strengthen and diversify the areas of economic and technical cooperation between the two countries through the establishment of a joint Moroccan-Emirati economic committee.

At the start of the ministerial meeting, the minister noted the level of distinguished relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyane, may God protect them. She also praised the pioneering contribution of the UAE government and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development in supporting structured development projects in a range of vital sectors in the Kingdom.

On the other hand, the Minister reviewed the most important economic reforms undertaken by the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco to improve the business climate in Morocco, thus consolidating its position as a distinct destination for investors and strengthening its attractiveness and regional and international economic influence.

At the end of her speech, the minister stressed the permanent readiness of our country to develop joint action mechanisms with the brotherly United Arab Emirates and to establish a fruitful economic cooperation in various fields of common interest. She also called on UAE investors to take advantage of the promising investment opportunities that abound in our country, and to forge partnerships with the Moroccan private sector in priority areas.

On the other hand, Mr. Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed the strong relations of brotherhood and cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco. He also highlighted the interest of his country in the development of bilateral relations and the prospects for economic cooperation.
