Mrs. Nadia FETTAH meets with two senior officials of the World Bank

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, received, Thursday, April 27th 2023, Mr. Ferid BELHAJ and Mr. Mohammed NADIR, respectively Vice President for the MENA region and Regional Director in charge of equitable growth, finance and institutions for the MENA region at the World Bank (WB), as part of a working visit to Morocco by the two Bank officials.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss cooperation relations between Morocco and the World Bank Group and ways to further develop them.

In this context, the Minister of Economy and Finance reviewed the important reforms launched by Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of HIS MAJESTY THE KING, may God assist him, especially in the areas of financial and digital inclusion and the promotion of gender equality, welcoming, in this regard, the constant support of the World Bank to the reforms undertaken.

The Minister of Economy and Finance highlighted, by the way, the progress made in the preparations for the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF, scheduled for October in Marrakech, reiterating, in this regard, the commitment and determination of Morocco to successfully organize this event.

Meanwhile, Mr. BELHAJ welcomed the quality and relevance of cooperation projects between the World Bank Group and Morocco, while stressing the Bank's readiness to continue and strengthen its support for the Kingdom's economic and social development efforts.

On the sidelines of this meeting, the Minister of Economy and Finance and Mr. Jesko Hentschel, the World Bank Country Director for the Maghreb and Malta, signed a loan agreement for an amount of 424.2 million euros for the financing of the 3rd loan in support of the development policy for financial and digital inclusion.
