On February 22-23 and February 24-25, 2023, a delegation from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), composed of representatives from the Treasury and External Finance Department, took part in the work of the 2nd meeting of the Deputies of Finance and Central Banks and the 1st meeting of the Ministers of Finance and Governors of Central Banks. These events, under India's presidency of the G20, were held in Bangalore, India, respectively.

Both meetings are part of the G20 Finance Track, which periodically brings together finance ministers and central bank governors from G20 and invited countries to discuss global macroeconomic issues, including the global economic outlook and monitoring of global economic risks, reforms for a more stable and resilient global financial architecture, international taxation, sustainable finance and financial inclusion.

Within the framework of these meetings, the representative of the MEF expressed, on behalf of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Morocco’s appreciations to the Indian presidency of the G20 for the invitation addressed to our country to participate in this event. He underlined the will of Morocco, as host country of the next Annual Meetings of the Group of the World Bank and the IMF planned in Marrakech in October 2023, to contribute actively to the dynamics in progress for a reform of the Multilateral Banks of Development.

In this context, the MEF representative expressed Morocco's wish to see the emergence of a new vision of the international financial architecture that will be able to meet the pressing challenges of climate change financing, debt relief and energy transition, among others.

As a reminder, the G20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation, with an important role in developing and strengthening the international financial architecture.
