Launch of the Economic Office of Morocco at the OECD

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, launched, Monday, February 20th 2023, in Rabat the activities of the Moroccan Economic Office at the OECD, in the presence of the officials of this organization, as part of the second phase of implementation of the Morocco-OECD Country Program, signed on June 25, 2019.

This strategic project, implemented with the support of the Department of the Head of Government and several national institutions, aims to raise economic cooperation with this organization to a new level, by providing the Kingdom with a tool available to all 38 member countries of the OECD. It also aims to enhance the economic image and influence of Morocco internationally.

More precisely, the mission of the Morocco Geographic Office is to prepare, according to a specific methodology and precise procedures :

• The OECD Economic Survey of Morocco through a cross-sectional analysis, based on sound international comparisons and promoting experience sharing.

• Economic forecasts, in the fall and spring, with a country note summarizing recent developments, the two-year outlook, and reform priorities. These forecasts and analyses are published twice a year as part of the OECD Economic Outlook.

• An assessment of the structural reforms underway. This assessment is based on the construction of economic, social and environmental performance indicators as well as structural policies. These analyses are published in the Going for Growth report.

The office would also host senior staff provided by the Moroccan administration to the OECD to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and methodologies between the OECD and the Moroccan government.

With this ambitious 24-month project, Morocco is committed to further strengthening its economic partnership with the OECD as part of the implementation of the second phase of the Country Program.
