An introductory seminar on the Sharjah Prize in Public Finance

The Arab Organization for Administrative Development, affiliated to the League of Arab States, holds an introductory symposium on “the Sharjah Prize in Public Finance” on January 18-19, 2023, at the Marriott Hotel in Rabat, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, followed by a training workshop on the gender approach in budget preparation.

“The Sharjah Prize in Public Finance”, run by the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, sponsored and supported by the Government of Sharjah, aims to spread best practices and implementations in managing public funds to achieve sustainable development, optimal use of financial resources, and encourage researchers in the Arab world to pursue sustainable development.

The symposium opened with the speech of His Excellency Dr. Nasser Al-Hatlan Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, the speech of Sheikh Rashid bin Saqr Al-Qasimi, Secretary-General of the Award, and the speech of Mrs. Sonia Hamamouch, Director of Finance Department at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The introductory symposium defined the award, its vision, target entities, evaluation criteria, as well as the conditions and mechanism of participation using the electronic participation system.

The symposium will be followed by a training workshop on Gender Approach in budget preparation, during which experts from Budget Department at the Ministry of Economy and Finance will cover the following themes:

  • Gender Budget: Legal and conceptual foundations.

  • Results-based management from a gender perspective.

  • Budget planning and programming from a gender perspective.

  • Gender budget mechanisms.

The first day of the symposium was attended by 70 representatives of various Moroccans ministerial departments.
