Morocco hosts the fourth meeting of the sixteenth replenishment of the African Development Fund

On Monday, December 5th 2022, Mr. Ryad MEZZOUR, Minister of Industry and Trade, co-chaired, alongside Mr. Akinwumi ADESINA, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, the opening session of the fourth meeting of the sixteenth replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF-16), the concessional window of the AfDB Group.

The meeting, which will take place on 5th and 6th December 2022, was attended by representatives of donor countries of the African Development Fund and senior officials of the Bank Group. On this occasion, Mr. MEZZOUR, who delivered an opening speech, thanked the African Development Bank for this opportunity offered to our country to reaffirm its commitment to the economic and social development of the African continent. This in accordance with the High Directions of his Majesty the King, may God assist him, and its support to the efforts of the African Development Fund to finance development projects in the most vulnerable African countries.

Furthermore, Mr. MEZZOUR stressed the importance of this 16th replenishment of the ADF, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the creation of this Fund, to initiate the necessary reforms to make this instrument even more relevant and more transformative.

In this context, Mr. MEZZOUR announced Morocco's solemn commitment to contribute to this 16th replenishment of the ADF resources in order to concretize our country's active solidarity with low-income African countries, which are facing the effects of the crises linked to the COVID19 pandemic and the Ukrainian crisis, as well as the challenges of climate change As a reminder, the African Development Fund, established in 1972 and operational since 1974, is the AfDB Group's window for financing development projects and programs in low-income African countries on concessional terms. It is administered by the AfDB and currently has 37 recipient countries and 31 participating countries.
