The annual meetings of these international bodies are usually conducted for two consecutive years at the headquarters of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC and the third year in one of the member countries.

At these annual meetings, central bank governors, finance and development ministers, private sector leaders, civil society and media representatives, and academics gather to discuss issues of global concern, including the outlook for the world economy and financial stability, poverty eradication, as well as economic growth, job creation, climate change, and other topical issues.
