The Minister of Economy and Finance receives Mr. Sérgio PIMENTA, IFC Regional Vice President for Africa, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the IFC in Morocco

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, received, Tuesday, September 27th 2022 Mr. Sérgio PIMENTA, Regional Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Africa, who is on a working visit to Morocco, from September 26th to 28th 2022, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the IFC in Morocco

This meeting was also attended by Mr. Jesko Hentschel, Director of the Maghreb and Malta Department at the World Bank's MENA Regional Office, and Mr. Xavier Reille, Director of the IFC's Maghreb Office.

On this occasion, the Minister of Economy and Finance thanked the IFC for the support and assistance, both financial and technical, that this institution provides to our country to strengthen the role of the private sector as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation, as well as for its support to Moroccan companies in Africa.

The IFC's Regional Vice President for Africa welcomed the excellent cooperation relations between the IFC and Morocco, stressing the institution's willingness to continue its commitment to Morocco in order to support the economic recovery and accompany the development of the Moroccan private sector.

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH and Mr. Sérgio PIMENTA also reviewed the progress of the main areas of partnership between Morocco and the IFC, set out in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties in June 2021.

Moreover, the two officials reaffirmed their willingness to continue the coordination between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the IFC to ensure the success of the organization of the next Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF, scheduled for October 2023 in Marrakech.

At the end of this meeting, Mrs. FETTAH and Mr. PIMENTA exchanged symbolic gifts to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the IFC in Morocco.
