The study, co-financed with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), consists in preparing the documentation for the implementation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Kingdom of Morocco Gas Pipeline project and finalizing the related technical, financial and legal analyses.
The Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Strategic Project, initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Buhari, and signed in May 2017 has the ambition to be a catalyst for the economic development of the North-West African region.
It has a strong will to integrate and improve the competitiveness and economic and social development of the region, in particular through :
- Accelerating the electrification and development of energy autonomy in the region;
- Support for the development and improvement of the living conditions of the local population;
- Boosting the regional economy through the development of job-creating sectors;
- Reducing gas "flaring" and using reliable, sustainable energy;
Through its support to this project, a model of South-South cooperation, the OPEC FUND strengthens, at the same time, the financial cooperation relations with Morocco and contributes to the economic and social dynamics of the Kingdom.
