The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, met with Mrs. Heike HARMGART on Monday, December 20, 2021, by videoconference, with Mrs. Heike HARMGART, Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region (SEMED) at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
During the videoconference, Mrs. Nadia FETTAH and Mrs. Heike HARMGART, welcomed the quality of relations maintained since 2012 between Morocco and the EBRD, and have discussed matters of common interest, including the prospects for the development of financial and technical cooperation as well as institutional relations between the two partners.
In particular, the Minister praised the Bank's responsiveness and the financial support it has provided to Moroccan enterprises, both private and public, to alleviate their difficulties and liquidity problems resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic. In this respect, the Minister invited the EBRD to continue and further strengthen its financing to the private and public sectors in Morocco, notably in the framework of the post-Covid recovery plan.
In addition, the Minister returned to the Government's priorities in the current context and the main reforms recently undertaken by Morocco. In this regard, Mrs. FETTAH ALAOUI welcomed the draft of the new EBRD strategy for Morocco, integrating the needs of the Kingdom and its priorities, particularly with regard to mitigating the effects of the Covid-19 crisis and economic recovery.
