As part of the round (debate) initiated to review , inter alia, certain key matters with a significant impact on Morocco’s regional and international economic positionning, the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forcasts (DEPF), in collaboration with the Policy Center for the New South, held, Tuesday February 27th 2019 at 02h30 p.m in the amphitheatre of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, a panel discussion on the theme : « Morocco-China relations in the light of the geopolitic and geoeconomic global changes ».
This meeting was provided by Mr. Fathallah OUALALOU, former Minister of Economy and Finance, former Mayor of Rabat and senior research fellow at Policy Center for the New South.
Discussions focused on three axes. The first highlighted the structural changes of China during the last three decades and which structured its developmental model. The second axis put forward issues associated with the growing maturity of this country on the international economic stage. The third axis stressed the Morocco-China relations and prospects to enhance these links on the bilateral, regional and international levels.
Infact, Morocco-China relations are based on harmonious development and convergence of points of view on several issues of common concern.
Having signed the Memorandum on the new Silk Road, Morocco intends to boost its relations with China. The geostrategic positioning of the Kingdom puts it, in fact, as a partner of choice for China, particularly in West Africa, the Mediterranean and the Arab-Islamic world.
This meeting was enhanced by the participation of senior officials of the various MEF Directorates, representatives of international organizations (the World Bank, ECA, AfDB, ...) and professionals from ministerial departments and national institutions ( IRES, Central Bank, CESE, ONDH, ...).
