Signing of the loan agreement on the project « sustain the economic integration of Morocco

Mr. Mohamed BENCHAABOUN, Minister of Economy and Finance and Mrs. Marie Françoise Marie-Nelly, World Bank’s Country Director for the Maghreb and Malta, Middle East and North Africa, signed, Wednesday, May 29th 2019 in Rabat the loan agreement on the project « sustain the economic integration of Morocco's youth ».

Were present during this event, Mr. Saïd Amzazi, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Mohamed Yatim, Minister of Employment and Professional Integration, Mr. Lahcen Daoudi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Genral Affairs and Governance, Mr. Mohamed Derdouri, Wali, National Coordinator of the National Initiative of Human Development, and Mr. Abdelmounaim Madani, Director of National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills. Therefore, the attending Ministers and Mr. Abdelmounaim Madani signed the agreement to implement this project. The objective of the project « sustain the economic integration of Morocco's youth » is mainly to improve youth access to economic opportunities in the Marrakech-Safi region. It is planned as part of the strategic partnership 2019-2024 between Morocco and the World Bank and will enable to mobilize 55 Million US dollars over five years

The project is based on three components :

  • The promotion of employability and youth economic integration, through the setting up of a regional network of Youth Work Units in the seven provinces and prefecture of the region and the organization of vocational integration for 19 000 young poeple.

  • The development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and support for the creation of entrepreneurship opportunities for young people in the fields with high employment potential value chains, through the setting up of a regional network of support centers for enterpreneurship and local economic development.

  • The implementation of a regional enterpreneurship program for 25 000 young people with the creation of 1500 businesses and finally the implementation of a regional program to strenghthen micro, very small, small and medium-sized entreprises and cooperatives integrated in chain values and local economic activities with growth potential and job creation in the region.

  • Capacity building of the institutions and project implementation.
