Addis Ababa: Morocco unanimously designated to host the UN Conference of African Ministers of Finance

The Kingdom of Morocco was selected unanimously and by acclamation to hold the next Ministerial Conference of the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).

The Finance African Ministers , meeting at the Commission's headquarters in Addis Ababa from May 11th to 15th , welcomed the offer to host the Conference that Mr. Mohamed Boussaid, Minister of Economy and Finance made.

The decision to hold this conference for the first time in Morocco reflects the confidence of African States and ECA in the Kingdom under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI. It is also an acknowledgement of its efforts for an inclusive development of Africa and for strengthening South-South cooperation.

The decision to hold the 52nd conference in 2019 in Morocco was taken by acclamation after discussions that resulted in the adoption of a ministerial declaration of the 51st conference. The latter notably recognized the potential that the African Free Trade Zone represented to promote industrialization, economic diversification and development, for the purpose of encouraging the prosperity of the continent.
