43rd Meeting of the Board of Governors of the IDB Group

Mr. Mohamed Boussaid, Minister of Economy and Finance, made a visit to Tunisia to take part in the 43rd meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group held from April 3rd to 5th 2018.

The Moroccan delegation accompanying Mr. Boussaid is made up of Mrs. Faouzia Zaaboul, Director of the Treasury and External Finance (DTFE) and senior officials of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The Minister expressed appreciation of the IDB's role in developing new regional partnership strategies with member states and strengthening the effectiveness of the group's actions, besides promoting investment, inter-commerce and supporting the private sector.

Thus, he stressed the various challenges the Islamic countries face in the current economic climate regionally and internationally. On this occasion, Mr. Boussaid called on the IDB to further mobilize and support its members in order to achieve economic diversity and the structural transition to more productive sectors that will generate more jobs for young people.

In addition, Mr. Mohamed Boussaid pointed out to the importance of IDB initiatives to develop Arab-African cooperation and strategic partnership. He put forward the leading role of the banking group in strengthening Arab-African trade exchanges and the financing of inclusive development projects, especially after the signing of an agreement on the setting up of a continental free trade area in Africa.

During this meeting, Mr. Mohamed Boussaid was appointed president of the Board of Governors of the IDB Group, for a year that will end following the 44th Annual Meeting of the Council , planned in Morocco from April 02nd to 04th 2019 in Marrakech. On this occasion, Mr. Boussaid welcomed the governors of the IDB Member States to Morocco.

On the sidelines of this event, the Minister held several meetings with his counterparts from the Arab, Islamic and African countries, dedicated to ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
