Digital transformation offers new opportunities in the insurance sector

At the opening session of the fifth edition of the "Casablanca Rendezvous of Insurance" (Rendez-vous de Casablanca de l'Assurance) held on April 4, 2018, Mr. Nouaman Al Aissami, Deputy Director at the Treasury and External Finance Administration, speaking on behalf of Mr. Mohamed Boussaid, Minister of Economy and Finance, stressed that insurers can help, through technological transformation, the government in two projects: the promotion of an inclusive insurance and coverage against climate and catastrophic risks.

At this meeting held under the High Patronage of His Majesty the King Mohammed VI and the theme "Insurance Disruption: explore, innovate, reinvent itself," Mr. Nouaman Al Aissami emphasized that the primary transformation that comes naturally to mind is the technological transformation that generates risks by challenging the traditional organization of the financial markets and their business model, but also, paradoxically opens up new opportunities.

"We must all think about the best ways to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the digital revolution in the matter of inclusive insurance," he said, adding that "to support more future changes, we need a flexible legislative framework that encourages stakeholder initiatives but at the same time protects the insured and the savings ".

Participants at the meeting noted that digital transformation is an important area for professionals to provide their customers with quality services under optimal conditions.

Organized by Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies (FMSAR), this year edition celebrates Tanzania and will be marked by the participation of experts from several countries, particularly in Africa.

The event, which makes Casablanca a hub for reflection on the future of African insurance and reinsurance, includes round tables discussing open innovation in insurance and the potential use of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Internet of Things or Big Data to create value and improve customer experience.

It will also be an opportunity to showcase Moroccan startups. Spaces of networking will be put at their disposal to expose their innovating ideas and to create partnerships of tomorrow.
