The Direction of Studies and Financial Forcasts (DEPF) held, March 1st 2018, in partnership with the OCP Policy Center, a workshop on the theme : « development issues and challenges facing middle-income countries : focus on Morocco ».
This workshop was animated by Mr. Hinh T. DINH, global expert in economic policy. This workshop was attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, representatives of the different general directions and directions of this Ministry as well as representatives of national sectoral ministery departments and the think tanks. Were also present representatives of international organisms as the World Bank Group and Afraican Development Bank as well as embassy representatives as the French Embassy. The objectif of this workshop is to highlight the major challenges that middle-income countries face, such as Morocco, and present in an empirical manner the different approaches used by countries such as South Korea, China, Taiwan and Singapore to succeed their economic emergence and move outside the trap of middle-income countries
Dr. Hinh T. Dinh is currently a researcher « senior Fellow » at the University of Indiana and President and Director General of Economic Growth and Transformation, Inc. Dr. Dinh worked for more than 35 years in the World Bank Group. He was Senior Economist in the Vice-President's office and was Chief Economist in this body. Dr. Dinh also worked in Africa, Middle East and North Africa departments as well as in the Finance Complex. In that capacity, he headed the economists of the World Bank Group in the preparation of economic analysis and strategic advice.
He thus made the assessement of macroeconomic and structural policies of a number of countries around the world, from Asia to Latin America through Africa. Dr. Dinh published several books in the fields of industrialization, budget management and the economic development of Africa.
