Participation of Morocco in the meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Washington

During his participation in the meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held in Washington from April 21st to 23rd 2017, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, president of the group made up of Afghanistan, Algeria, Ghana, Iran, Morocco, Pakistan and Tunisia, took part in the meeting of the Development Committee and issued a statement on behalf of the Group.

In his speech, the Minister of Economy and Finance called on the World Bank to further efforts for the achievement of development projects and benefit from its special position as a benchmark institution in financing development.

During this event, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID proposed to start a debate for a new positioning of the other institutions of the Group of the bank namely the IFC and the MIGA by putting emphasis on improving existing tools and defining innovative devices for the private sector.

​Alongside these meetings, Mr. BOUSSAID held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Hafez GHANEM, Vice-President of the MENA Region at the World Bank, regarding the cooperation relations of this institution with Morocco and the review of methods and means to further strengthen these relations, in particular as regards support for the reform programs initiated by Morocco. Concerning the consolidation of Moroccan relations with international and regional financial institutions, Mr. BOUSSAID met with the Presidents of the New Development Bank and the West African Development Bank.
