The Minister of Economy and Finance receives the Deputy Chancellor of Germany, Federal Minister of Economy and Energy

Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, met, Tuesday, April 19th, 2016 in Rabat, with Mr. Gabriel SIGMAR, Deputy Chancellor of Germany, Federal Minister of Economy and Energy who was in an official visit to the Kingdom at the head of a large delegation of officials and businessmen.

During their meeting, Mr. BOUSSAID gave an overview on the economic development of the Kingdom. These changes are characterized by a development encouraged by political stability and based in particular on sector-based strategies.

Thus, the Minister stated that Morocco adopted in recent years an ambitious energy policy, noting in this regard that the German experience in the field may well benefit the Kingdom. He stressed that the energy potential of our country are likely to make Morocco a model country.

The Minister of Economy and Finance has also raised the case of the automotive industry that is currently experiencing a very positive development in our country, noting also the Kingdom’s concern about the German experience in this field.

In this context, Mr. BOUSSAID specified that the energy and industrial policies including the automobile industry, would, among others, enable Morocco to attain a high growth rate able to achieve a certain amount of prosperity; regarded as the key to peace.

The Minister took this opportunity to underline the level of growth the Kingdom achieved in recent years. He also highlighted the reforms carried out by the Moroccan authorities in order to reduce social disparities.

Stressing the potentials of our country in the fields of Agriculture, Industry, Energy and Logistics, Mr. BOUSSAID stated that the Kingdom has other projects to undertake and has many other investment opportunities.

On the other hand, the Vice Chancellor of Germany, Federal Minister of Economy and Energy, highlighted the strategic position of Morocco in Germany cooperation policy and noted that his visit to Morocco is part of the deepening of the special economic relations linking Morocco to Germany.

Mr. SIGMAR asserted that the German government is willing to accelerate the pace of partnership with Morocco and to encourage investment in the most promising areas.

He also welcomed the political, economic and social reforms initiated in Morocco, which make the Kingdom a key partner of the EU in the region, enjoying stability and providing German economic operators with significant investment opportunities and wide prospects for partnership in various fields.​
