Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, Minister of Economy and Finance, received Monday, February 22nd, 2016 at the headquarters of his department in Rabat, Mr. Hafez Ghanem, Vice President at the World Bank for the MENA region, on his first official visit to Morocco.

This meeting was an opportunity to review Morocco's cooperation with the World Bank as well as on ways and means to strengthen it further.

In a press statement, the Vice President at the World Bank for the MENA region stated that he was proud of the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the World Bank. He has thus highlighted the level of development that Morocco achieves, especially through growth in several sectors including the automotive, aerospace and solar energy areas. He welcomed the efforts of the Kingdom to fight against poverty.

Mr. Hafez Ghanem also stressed that the objective of the meetings with Moroccan officials, is to further strengthen the partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the World Bank to discuss the possibilities of its development.

On the other hand, the Minister of Economy and Finance said that the relations between Morocco and the World Bank are based on trust and are now governed by a strategic partnership framework for the period 2014-2017 .

For him, the program defined in the framework of this partnership is progressing normally. He also stressed that the focus is on the priority areas of the Moroccan economic policy, including education, employment, regionalization and inclusive growth. The meeting was attended, among others, by Mr. Rachid BELMOGHTAR, Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Mohamed LOUAFA, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of General Affairs and Governance, Mrs. Marie Françoise Marie-Nelly, Director of the Maghreb Department operations within the MENA region at the World Bank, Mrs. Faouzia Zaaboul, Director of Treasury and External Finance, Mr. Fouzi LEKJAA, Director of Budget, and Mr. Mohamed CHAFIKI, Director of Studies and Financial Forecasts.
