Mr. BOUSSAID receives the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mohammed BOUSSAID, received Monday, July 14th, 2014 at the headquarters of his department in Rabat, the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr. Akihiko TANAKA. During this meeting, the two leaders reviewed the areas of cooperation between Morocco and JICA. They also expressed the willingness to further develop the relationship linking Morocco to this Agency, and look for new opportunities of cooperation.

It should be stressed that Morocco and JICA have a long-term cooperative relationship, particularly in the areas of health, education, water and electricity. More than 1,000 volunteers from Japan have been in Morocco, against nearly 1,400 Moroccans who have benefited from training in Japan.

The JICA, which was founded in 1974 for the implementation of the Official Development Assistance, is responsible for the Japanese technical assistance and is responsible for the execution of projects of non-repayable financial assistance.

The Agency operates for the improvement of living conditions (water, education, health), environmental protection (fight against desertification), and poverty reduction through economic growth (fishing, agriculture, infrastructure).
