Mr. Mohamed Boussaïd, Minister of Economy and Finance, claimed , Monday , May 5th in Paris that" The participation of Morocco in the program-countries that the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) plans to launch, will enable the Kingdom to occupy a previliged position within this very credible authority at the global level "
"The process and the program which we try to build today with the OECD allows us to hope to succeed towards a status of separate member of this organization ", he underlined in a declaration to the MAP, at the conclusion of his discussions with the director of the centre of development and the director of the world relations to the OECD respectively, Mr.Mario Pezzini and Mr.Marcos Bonturi.
The Minister also reminded that the Kingdom is the only African country and the only one in the MENA region chosen within the framework of this program which concerns the next two years, and which will put at the disposal of Morocco all legal instruments which provide access to all activities of the OECD.
During these meetings which took place on the sidelines of the OECD forum of 2014, Mr. Boussaid indicated that the head of government expressed, in a letter sent to the General Secretary of the OECD, the commitment of Morocco to this program which would constitute an important source of exchanging experiments and supporting the conception and the implementation of reforms to meet the big challenges the Kingdom faces. The Minister asserted, on the other hand, that by the end of this year, Morocco and OECD will have developed other cooperation themes, quoting in this respect the multidimensional strategy, the industrial acceleration and the natural resources. Mr. Boussaid highlighted, in addition to that, the interest of the OECD in the initiative and the approach of Morocco vis-à-vis the Sub Saharan African Countries
From their part, MESSRS Pezzini and Bonturi welcomed Morocco’s efforts to develop its cooperation with the OECD, underlining the Organization’s assistance to accompany it so as to reach this goal. On this occasion, Mr. Bonturi informed Mr. Boussaïd that the OECD External Relations Council agreed on the program-country which concerns in addition to Morocco, three other countries, namely Thailand, Peru and Kazakhstan, specifying that it should be approved by the Ministerial Council of the OECD
From his part, Mr. Pezzini welcomed the political efforts launched by Morocco in different domains, stressing that the development strategy adopted by the kingdom may serve as an example for other countries. Previously, Mr. Boussaïd took part in a lunch-debate on the theme: “better cities ", organized within the framework of the OECD forum, where he emphasized the experience of Morocco regarding diversity, tolerance and inclusiveness of cities. The Minister will take part on Tuesday in the opening ceremony of the ministerial meeting of the OECD which will be held under the theme " resilient economies and inclusive companies: giving each means of employment and growth to each.
