Participation of the Minister in an economic meeting under the theme "Morocco-France: an exceptional partnership to serve a shared competitiveness."

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Nizar Baraka, took part in a meeting in Casablanca, Wednesday, December 12th 2012 held by the General Confederation of Moroccan Companies (CGEM) and the French Employers Federation ( MEDEF), under the theme: "Morocco-France: an exceptional partnership to serve a shared competitiveness."

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister highlighted the commitment of the Kingdom to encourage investment and improve the business climate to meet the needs of the businessmen of both countries.

In addition, the Minister stated that the Moroccan government is committed to further improve the business climate and facilitate entrepreneurship in order to attract more foreign direct investment (FDI) in a period of international economic difficulties. After stressing the importance of the relationships between Morocco and France at all levels, the Minister described as win-win the strategic partnership established between the two countries.

He, in addition, pointed out the measures the government took to reinforce the attractiveness of the Kingdom, to mobilize more investment and increase the business opportunities offered in many key sectors in Morocco, such as aeronautics, automotive, offshoring and food. Mr. Baraka added that the Government adopted a collaborative approach with partners to achieve these objectives. Hegave the example of the committees with the CGEM and the most representative unions, which aim to identify measures to move towards a result-based management.

The Minister also reconsidered the deadline for payment, the measures adopted to fight against the informal economy and to speed up the refund of VAT, in addition to the bank bill authorizing the establishment of Islamic banks, the reform of the stock exchange Act, the Act on the capital market authority and efforts for more tax fairness.

This MEGC-MEDEF international meeting, held under the France-Morocco business leaders Club, on the side line of the high Franco-Moroccan joint meeting, provides the opportunity for French businessmen to meet their Moroccan counterparts and discuss the projects and the Franco-Moroccan partnership competitiveness.

This event, which is part of the 11th high-level meeting between Morocco and France, was chaired by the Heads of Government of both countries, and organized under the theme "France-Morocco: a youth serving partnership``.
