The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget, Mr.Driss EL AZAMI EL IDRISSI, held a meeting with Mr. Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Industry and Entrepreneurship, Monday, November 26th 2012 at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
This meeting is part of the "Missions for Growth", an initiative of the European Commission to encourage the relocation of European firms to benefit from growth in some emerging countries.
Accordingly, Mr. Antonio Tajani stated that Morocco is the first country in the European neighborhood to benefit from this initiative, taking into consideration the many opportunities and advantages it offers. "The Kingdom maintains very good relations with the European Union. It is a developed country with which we are very familiar, which has undertaken significant reforms and has given satisfactory answers to our questions as regards investment" he noted.
For Mr. El AZAMI EL IDRISSI,this meeting was an opportunity to presentto the European partners the agenda of the economic and social reforms that Morocco continues to undertake in order to enhance visibility in terms of strengthening and implementing sector based policies. He also mentioned all the steps the Governmenttook to facilitate investment and enhance the quality of the investment climate in Morocco.
In this respect, Mr. El AZAMI EL IDRISSI highlighted all measures taken by the Government to resolve the VAT repayment issue, which represents a real problem for companies investing in Morocco .He stressed the State `s commitment to pay back in time and undergo the penalties in case of a delay.
Moreover, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget outlined Morocco`s major reforms especially in the field of justice and in terms of maintaining the macroeconomic framework .He stressed the government`s efforts to reform the tax system in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the Moroccan economy and rationalize expenditures.
Mr. Tajani is accompanied by European business leaders and representatives from various organizations and entrepreneurial associations.
