The General Treasury of the Kingdom joins the Board of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS BOARD) in January 2012.
By being a member of (IPSAS BOARD) which is in charge of accounting and financial issues, Morocco becomes the first Arab country and the third African country to have joined this board after South Africa and Kenya.
It represents the culmination of an ambitious reform process of the state`s accounting system and the efforts to set public sector accounting standards. Morocco`s membership at this board was supported by friendly countries and the national association of accountants.
Morocco will benefit from the international best practices in terms of public sector accounting, on the basis of which he could be able to converge its accounting system with international norms and standards.
This membership is timely as to contribute to the implementation of the principles of the new constitution in terms of quality, transparency, accountability and responsibility.
This is also in the interests of the government`s program guidelines that link the organic budget law reform to the adoption of a new accounting system to ensure a good governance of public finances based on transparency and accountability.
