The Minister participated in the second Industry meetings

On Thursday, May 05th 2011 in Casablanca, Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Economy and Finance, took part in the second Industry meetings, which opening ceremony was headed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him. The Minister stated that the National Pact for Industrial Emergence (PNEI), launched in 2009 under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, has given more visibility to foreign investors wishing to establish in Morocco.

Mr. Mezouar stressed that the Pact is a necessity for Moroccan industry in terms of strategy and vision based on a set of key sectors such as automobile, offshoring, aerospace and electronic industry. He added that those sectors with high added value resulted in the creation of 15,000 jobs in 2010, thus reaching the goals set by the National Pact for the emerging industry.

Today, two new sectors will empower and strengthen the pact namely food and textiles.These two pillars of the Moroccan economy constitute two thirds of the industrial sector of the country, clarified the Minister.

In this regard, he stated the development of an integrated and tailored appraoch to the needs of industrial sectors, creating an environment that will boost investment opportunities, support measures, effectiveland offers and skilled workforce.

The Minister noted that development strategies adopted by Morocco in several sectors such as clean energy, agriculture, fisheries and habitat improved the local bid for investment. He added that this approach has been made more attractive by the simplification of administrative procedures, strengthening of good governance and transparency of business world, which supported reform projects.

The purpose of these meetings, organized by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and New Technologies in partnership with the General Confederation of Enterprises in Morocco (CGEM) is to bring together all (PNEI) stakeholders ( from private and public sectors ) so as to prepare a report on the implementation for a 2nd year of this pact.
