Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Economy and Finance, attended a Spanish-Moroccan Business forum on Thursday 28 April 2011, in Madrid. The forum was jointly organized by the Spanish Confederation of entrepreneurial Organizations (CEOE-Employers) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Businesses (CGEM), with the participation of a number of representatives of the business community in Morocco and Spain.
The Minister stated on the occasion that it was "fundamental", in the present post-crisis phase, that a "more advanced" partnership model be developed between the two countries, calling for increased joint efforts in that direction.
In this regard, highlighting the significance of this kind of encounters, the Minister indicated that it would undoubtedly enable both Morocco and Spain to explore new venues and contemplate new prospects for enhanced economic et commercial partnership, while stressing that this joint endeavor would be "highly beneficial" for both countries.
According Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Morocco is undergoing sustained change in many respects, and is in the process of consolidating its economic openness. He noted, in this respect, that the Advanced Status granted to the Kingdom of Morocco by the European Union would certainly strengthen and speed up the process, and both partners to reach a pace that is commensurate with the present global economic situation.
The event was marked by the participation of a large Moroccan delegation comprising of Moroccan officials, business professionals, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, the Deputy Minister in charge of Economic and General Affairs, Mr. Nizar Baraka, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and New Technologies, Mr. Ahmed Reda Chami, the Minister of Equipment and Transportation, Mr. Karim Ghellab, the Minister of Energy, Mining, Water and the Environment, Mrs. AMina Benkhadra, and the Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Mr. Yassir Znagui.
