Signing ceremony with the ADB of loan agreements and guarantees related to the project of strengthening the supply of Rabat - Casablanca littoral zone with drinking water.

 Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Economy and Finance chaired Thursday, August 19th 2010 at the headquarters of the Ministry, a signing ceremony with the (ADB) of loan agreements and guarantees relating to the program of strengthening the supply of Rabat- Casablanca littoral zone with water.   
The guarantee agreement related to the loan amounting to 203 million euros (2.2 billion DH), was signed by Mr. Salaheddine MEZOUAR and Mrs. Amani Abou-Zeid, Resident Representative of ADB`s Office in Morocco.

The loan agreement related to this project was signed by Mr. Ali Fassi Fihri, Director General of (ONEP) and Mrs. Amani Abou-Zeid.

This project, which is part of the investment program of ONEP for 2008-2010 period, aims to improve living conditions and socio-economic health of 5, 5 million inhabitants centred in Kenitra-El Jadida axis, through securing drinking water supply to urban and rural areas.

During this ceremony, the Minister stressed the importance of Morocco -ADB cooperative relations. This institution continues to provide assistance to Morocco`s development efforts through its contribution to funding reforms? programs and investment projects in our economy key sectors.

Finally, the Minister thanked the ADB for its continued support for programs and investment projects undertaken by Morocco.

The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Amina Benkhadra, Minister of Energy, Mines Water and Environment.

Since its first action in Morocco in 1970, the ADB funded hundreds of projects amounting to US $ 7.8 billion which make Morocco the first receiver of assistance from that institution. The ADB is currently one of the main funds providers of Morocco. The ADB operations have so far brought in more structural reforms and sectoral projects on transportation, finance, agriculture, water and sanitation, energy health and education, industry and communications.
