On Tuesday, March 2nd 2010, Mr. Salah Eddine Mezouar, Minister of Economy and Finance, headed at the Ministry, the ceremony of signing a loan agreement between the Ministry of Economy and Finance and JaIda in an amount of $ 6 million to finance the program of fighting against rural poverty through supporting the micro-credit sector. Besides Mr. Zouhair CHORFI, Director of Treasury and External Finance, and Mr. Said LAFTIT, Chairman of the Board of Jaida, who signed this agreement, the ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in Rabat and Mr. the Representative of the President of the National Federation of micro-credit Associations.
The amount of $ 6 million that the state provides for Jaida, a company dedicated to the micro-credit sector in rural areas, especially in agriculture and livestock sectors, and to assist micro-credit associations to develop new products in rural areas, was mobilized through bilateral cooperation with the Italian Republic.
Mr. Salaheddine MEZOUAR welcomed the excellent cooperation and partnership relations with Italy, which provides significant support to the Kingdom of Morocco in its fight against poverty and insecurity.
The Minister also recalled the considerable efforts made by the authorities to promote the micro-credit sector since it has a gearing effect on social inclusion and the fight against poverty.
