Signature of an agreement to finance the hydro-agricultural development of the second part of the Middle Sebou

On Monday, December 14th, 2009, Mr. Salaheddine MEZOUAR, Minister of Economy and Finance and Jean Michel SEVERINO Director General of the French Development Agency (AFD), signed at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, a loan agreement amounting to 40 million euros to finance the hydro-agricultural development of the second part of the Middle Sebou. The project anticipates to build a network of irrigation pipe under pressure, allowing the development of drip irrigation on 4 000 ha, enhanced by anti-erosion facilities and opening up in areas surrounding irrigated areas. The plan matches perfectly to the strategy initiated by the Government under the Green Morocco Plan, aiming to an effective and efficient management of water resources for irrigation.

Thereafter, the Minister of Economy and Finance and his Excellency the Ambassador of France in Rabat welcomed the quality and intensity of traditional and multifaceted relations that Morocco and France maintain, and reasserted their determination to strengthen them.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Bruno JOUBERT, Ambassador of France in Rabat.
