Mr. Salaheddine MEZOUAR, Minister of Economy and Finance, received Mrs. Edith Harxhi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania on an official visit to Morocco, at the headquarter of the Ministry of Economy and Finance on Wednesday February 4th, 2009.
During the meeting, Mr. MEZOUAR underlined the positive impact Mrs. Harxhi`s visit would have on the development and consolidation of ties of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Albania.
In this regard, Mr. MEZOUAR stressed the importance of developing for the benefit of both countries, bilateral economic cooperation that remained below the potential of both countries and the opportunities available in the Moroccan and the Albanian economies.
Mr. MEZOUAR explained that action could be geared towards developing investment and partnership in areas of common interest, and towards boosting and diversifying commercial exchange.
With regard to investment and partnership, Mr. MEZOUAR highlighted the assets and opportunities to be found in different economic sectors in Morocco. He also underlined the benefit of implementing a legal framework to develop commercial ties between operators from the two countries, through the completion of the agreement on the mutual promotion and protection of investment being currently negotiated, and through a no-dual taxation convention.
Mrs. Harxhi stressed that her visit to Morocco illustrated Albania`s determination to make Moroccan-Albanian ties a basis for economic cooperation and partnership that would benefit economic operators from both countries.
At the end of their meeting, the two ministers expressed their satisfaction at the friendship and good will that marked their discussions, and at the mutual determination to develop bilateral cooperation.
