The Minister of Economy and Finance grants an interview to Mr. Ferid BELHAJ, World Bank Vice President for the MENA region

Mrs. Nadia FETTAH, Minister of Economy and Finance, received Wednesday, November 2nd 2022, Mr. Ferid BELHAJ, Vice President for the MENA region at the World Bank, who is on a working visit to Morocco from November 2 to 5, 2022.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Jesko Hentschel, Director of the Maghreb and Malta Department at the World Bank's MENA Regional Office, along with senior officials of the Bank's Regional Office.

The Minister of Economy and Finance expressed her appreciation for the outstanding cooperation relations between Morocco and the World Bank Group. In addition, she thanked the Group for the financial and technical support provided to our country.

In this context, Mrs. FETTAH highlighted the value of the support provided by the World Bank for the achievement of the priority reforms undertaken by Morocco under the wise leadership of His Majesty the King, notably in the areas of social protection, public sector reform and new generation sectoral strategies.

In addition, the Minister of Economy and Finance reviewed the outlines of the Finance Bill 2023, pointing out, in this respect, the reforming and social impetus of this project and the government's commitment to continue the implementation of the major reform projects underway.

Meanwhile, the Vice President for the MENA region at the World Bank praised the quality and relevance of cooperation projects between the World Bank Group and Morocco, expressing the Bank's preparedness to further support the Kingdom's economic and social development endeavors.

The two parties also reaffirmed their common desire to work for the success of the organization of the next Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF, scheduled for October 2023 in Marrakech.
